About Me

Collinsville, Oklahoma, United States
Mark is a former service member. He previously served in the US Marines, US Army, and the National Guard. He always managed to pull out honorable discharges. This can be more difficult that one might think, when you are young and never really tested at home. That is, though none of us may care to admit it, sheltered from the world by mother, family and friends and then cast into this big melting pot of ours and expected to swim in the mire, then things can get a bit shady. If it turns out that you are not truly rock solid inside and out then you are going to sink deep into that big melting pot and come up smelling pretty damn bad. I'll talk about those experiences in due time. Mark

Mark was born on December 4th, 1951 in Henryetta, OK. He was raised partly by his
grandparents. Charlie and Willie Mae Friend. Good Folks and typical hardworking family people. Willie had about 8 children. I ate alot of toast and hot choclate at Aunt Pat's. Yup - good memories! Grandma was not one to horse around. One time I played hookie from school. She wanted to switch me real bad, but my mother who had not seen me in awhile saved me from grandma's wrath. Charlie Friend was a throwback to the old west. I really believe that with all my heart. He loved animals of all sorts and raised chickens, cows, horses and even rabbits at one time or another. Well, lets not leave out the mules! He certainly had a mule in his lifetime - because I have a memory of at least one ol' mule. And I ain't talking about any former wives, so dont get upset! We snuck into the drive-in at Henryetta with Danny Joe my favorite cousin. We thought it was cool to ride in the truck and get over on something, I guess. We got our first beers from Danny and he is just a great memory. (I dont mean to imply that he is dead or anything). This will do for now. God Bless!

Mark graduated in April 1970 from Broken Arrow High School, Broken Arrow, OK. He then attended H C Lewis School of Technology from August 1970 until January 1971. On February 3rd, 1971 he volunteered for service in the U.S. Marine Corps. He had a high draft number and he did not know the mind of former Secretary of Defense
Robert Mcnamara.
